Nevada fishing report

-

■ Lake Mead — Most species can be found in cool, shaded waters near the bottoms of coves and along drop-offs. Striped bass are most active in the early mornings and at sunset, taking anchovies and silver crankbaits fished near shad boils. Catfish can be found in deep, dark coves. Black bass are hitting plastics and deep-diving crankbaits in the Overton Arm. However, with water levels dropping quickly, muddy shorelines are making access difficult.

■ Lake Mohave/willow Beach — Traffic has been heavy in the early mornings and evenings. Rainbow trout are staying near the bottom where the water is coldest, hitting worms and Powerbait. Black bass are hanging in the shadows along vegetation and rocky drop-offs. Stripers are cruising up and down the river but out from shore. Anchovies will catch stripers and catfish.

■ Laughlin — Catfish are hitting anchovies and chicken livers. The striper bite is good below the dam through Casino Row. Largemouth bass holding along the edges of shelves and other structure are taking plastics.

■ Las Vegas urban ponds — Sunfish are taking mealworms and night crawler chunks on small hooks. The best action has been in the mornings. The next catfish plant should be in mid-august, depending upon water temperatures.

■ Kirch Wildlife Management Area —

The reservoirs, with the exception of Tule, remain productive for bass and crappie. Adams-mcgill and Dacey are showing good trout action for those using spinners and flies. Aquatic vegetation has made shoreline fishing difficult.

■ Eagle Valley Reservoir — Aquatic vegetation is making shoreline fishing difficult. The best action has been in the open water near the reservoir’s center. Trout are taking rainbow and green Powerbait, while bass are taking soft plastic worms and spinner baits.

■ Echo Canyon Reservoir — Aquatic vegetation remains a problem for shore anglers. Boaters continue to do well for rainbows and bass. Trout are taking rainbow and green Powerbait. Bass are hitting green and brown soft plastics.
