Nevada fishing report

-

■ Lake Mead — Fishing has been best at sunrise. Black bass are active in the Overton Arm and Las Vegas Bay.

Striper boils have been found outside Hemenway Harbor and Government Wash. Shore anglers have pulled in catfish with deepdiving lures and anchovies.

■ Lake Mohave/willow Beach — Most striped bass are being caught by dropping anchovies and trolling with large swimbaits. Catfish are hitting night crawlers and anchovies just off the bottom. Rainbow trout are most active in the mornings, taking spinners and minnow flies.

■ Laughlin — High temperatures have made fishing difficult, though anglers are having success for rainbow trout with white and green lures in the mornings. Stripers are taking anchovies and swimbaits off the bottom. Anglers fishing from boats are having more success than shore fishers.

■ Las Vegas urban ponds — Seasonal fish plants are on hold for at least another week because of high temperatures. Fishing has been best on cloudy days and cooler mornings. Bluegill are taking mealworms near shadows about 10 feet from shore. Catfish have been caught with night crawlers and chicken liver pieces.

■ Kirch Wildlife Management Area — Fishing has been good between storms and in aquatic vegetation openings. Afternoon winds have caused weeds to bunch together in shoreline corners. Bass are hitting dark-colored Woolly Buggers and plastics at Dacey Reservoir. Adams-mcgill Reservoir is producing trout and bass for anglers throwing deepdiving lures.

■ Eagle Valley Reservoir — Labor Day weekend marks the end of the summer boating season. Boaters have been catching bass and rainbow trout along the east side. Bass are taking dark-colored plastics, crankbait and jigs. Trout are hitting rainbow-colored Powerbait and night crawlers in the early mornings.

■ Echo Canyon Reservoir — Weeds are thick along the shorelines, which are muddy because of fluctuating water levels. Bass and trout have been caught from watercraft and the shore. Trout action has been slow, but a few have been caught with rainbow Powerbait and worms fished a couple of feet below bobbers. A few bass and crappies have been caught near the canyon. Anglers are having the best success in the mornings.
