Arizona extended safety Jalen Thompson on Friday, giving the
2019 supplemental draft pick a longterm deal that will keep him under contract through 2025.
His new three-year deal is worth up to $40 million, including $24.5 million guaranteed, with a $10 million signing bonus, ESPN reported.
Thompson, a 24-year-old Washington State product, has started 25 of the 37 games he’s played in over the past three seasons. He has become a key part of the Cardinals’ secondary alongside Pro Bowl safety Budda Baker. Thompson set career highs with 121 tackles and three interceptions last season.

The 65-year-old, an accountant by trade, joined the team as a controller in 1983 and spent four years in that position before moving up the organization’s ladder. He became president in 1999 and has had a hand in hiring four general managers. Most recently, Phillips’ focus has been on purchasing a 326-acre land tract in suburban Arlington Heights, Illinois, where a new stadium and entertainment complex could be built.
■ Saints: Safety Marcus Maye denies wrongdoing after a Thursday arrest on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm stemming from an alleged road rage incident Monday in Metairie, Louisiana. The 29-year-old, already facing league discipline for a February 2021 DUI incident that resulted in property damage, signed a three-year, $28.5 million deal with New Orleans in March after spending his first five NFL seasons with the New York Jets.
■ Ravens: The team made a feathered addition to its injured reserve list. Coach John Harbaugh said that Poe, the team’s bird mascot,
