Golden Knights to play in 2022 Rookie Faceoff

The Golden Knights announced Tuesday that the team will participat­e in the 2022 Rookie Faceoff in San Jose, Calif. The 2022 Rookie Faceoff, which takes place Sept. 16-19, will feature top prospects from the Golden Knights, San Jose Sharks, Anaheim Ducks, Arizona Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche and Los Angeles Kings at the brand-new Tech CU Arena and Sharks Ice. The Golden Knights plan to release their official roster at a later date.

■ Women’s soccer: At Washington, Rose Lavelle scored the go-ahead goal and the U.S. women’s national team won its 13th straight match with a 2-1 victory over Nigeria. The United States also benefited from an own goal to extend the team’s unbeaten streak on American soil to 71 games.

■ NFL: Former Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid is scheduled to enter a plea Monday to felony driving while intoxicate­d causing serious injury after a 2021 car crash that seriously injured a young girl. Reid, son of Chiefs coach Andy Reid, is expected to plead guilty. He faces up to seven years in prison, The Kansas City Star reported.

■ Golf: Trevor Immelman used five of six captain’s picks on Presidents

Cup rookies to fill out his Internatio­nal team decimated by defections to LIV Golf. Immelman chose Si Woo Kim,

K.H. Lee, Cameron Davis, Christiaan Bezuidenho­ut, Sebastian Munoz and Taylor Pendrith for the Sept. 22-25 matches.

■ NBA: The Philadelph­ia 76ers have agreed to a two-year contract with free agent center Montrezl Harrell in a move that will reunite him with coach Doc Rivers. Harrell was the NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 2019-2020 when Rivers still coached the Los Angeles Clippers.
