New concussion protocols prompt Bridgewater’s exit

-

Teddy Bridgewater’s first start with Miami began with a big hit on his first snap.

The quarterback’s shaky reaction on the field was enough to get him pulled for the day because of the NFL’S newly revised concussion protocols.

Bridgewater, starting in place of injured Tua Tagovailoa, left the Dolphins’ loss to the New

York Jets on Sunday after he was popped in the chest by cornerback Ahmad Gardner on a blitz.

Bridgewater was called for intentional grounding in the end zone, resulting in a safety. Bridgewater then was examined for an elbow injury and evaluated for a concussion.

Coach Mike Mcdaniel said Bridgewater doesn’t have concussion symptoms and passed tests, but a spotter saw Bridgewater stumble. So he was removed — a result of the revised protocols put in place as a result of Tagovailoa’s injuries.

Also for Miami, wide receiver Tyreek Hill (foot) was in a walking boot after Sunday’s loss, though the injury is not believed to be serious, Pro Football Talk reported. In other injury news:
