Nevada fishing report

-

■ Lake Mead — One- to 2-pound stripers are hitting cut anchovies east of the Boulder Islands and near Las Vegas Bay. Smallmouth and largemouth bass are hitting silver and white swimbaits in the coves west of Callville Bay. Catfish in the 3-pound range are hitting anchovies and stink baits outside the marina tires.

■ Lake Mohave/willow Beach — Stripers are taking anchovies and soft baits early in the day between Willow Beach and Cottonwood Cove Marina. Black bass are hitting swimbaits in coves above Cottonwood Cove. The rainbow trout bite is slow, but the fish that are biting are taking gold and silver Rooster Tails.

■ Laughlin — Spinners, such as Rooster Tails and Panther Martins, and night crawlers are working well for rainbow trout. Stripers have been caught with anchovies and swimbaits from Davis Dam through Casino Row. The trout are hiding under docks through Casino Row and in coves with thick vegetation above Big Bend State Recreation Area. Catfish are taking anchovies around Big Bend.

■ Las Vegas urban ponds — Bluegill are hitting small grubs and worms, and catfish are taking chicken livers and night crawlers. Seasonal trout plants began this week. Stocked rainbows will hit night crawler pieces, small flies and Powerbait.

■ Kirch Wildlife Management Area — Expect icy edges in the early mornings that should melt off around noon. Water levels remain steady, and shoreline aquatic vegetation is declining. Rainbow trout action is best from boats. Stocked trout are taking Kastmasters, Powerbait and night crawlers.

■ Eagle Valley Reservoir — Overnight temperatures below freezing will prompt icy edges. Rainbow and tiger trout have been hitting spinning lures and spoons. Shore anglers have had success with Powerbait and night crawler/mini marshmallow combinations.

■ Echo Canyon Reservoir — Nighttime temperatures near freezing are producing icy shorelines early in the mornings. Rainbow trout action has been best from boats. Water levels continue to rise, and action has improved off the dam, with fish taking Powerbait and small spinning lures.

■ Upcoming events — An introduction to fly-fishing class is set for 1 p.m. Nov. 19 at Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City. Visit https://registered.com/programs/ nevada/210-angler-education for more information or to register.
