QB Pickett exits, returns, lands in protocol

-

Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin said he didn’t know “the details regarding the sequence” that led to rookie QB Kenny Pickett initially being cleared to play before being put into concussion protocol Sunday during the Steelers’ loss to visiting Baltimore.

Pickett was shaken up after getting sacked at the end of Pittsburgh’s first drive. He was evaluated by medical personnel and cleared to return, playing one more series before being ruled out.

This is the second time this season Pickett has been placed in protocol. He missed the second half of a victory over Tampa Bay on Oct. 16.

Ravens QB Tyler Huntley, filling in for injured starter Lamar Jackson, also went into concussion protocol in the second half and didn’t return. Coach John Harbaugh said he was optimistic Huntley would be available to play in Week 15.
