Ellis leads Purdue women to win at No. 2 Ohio State

Abbey Ellis hit five 3-pointers and totaled 26 points to lead Purdue past No. 2 Ohio State 73-65 for the Boilermake­rs’ first road win over a top-five team. The Buckeyes (19-3, 8-3 Big Ten) trailed by 17 in the third quarter before forging a 58-all tie with 4:28 left in the fourth. But they lost their third straight after winning their first 19 games this season. Purdue (15-6, 6-5) hit 13 of 29 3-point tries.

■ No. 3 Stanford 62, Oregon 54: At Stanford, Calif., Cameron Brink had 16 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocks in her first triple-double for the Cardinal (21-2, 9-1 Pac-12) in their 21st straight home league win. The Ducks (14-7, 5-5) shot 25 percent.

■ No. 5 Connecticu­t 63, No. 21 Villanova 58: At Hartford, Conn., Aubrey Griffin scored 19 points for the Huskies (20-2, 12-0 Big East), who won their

13th straight and halted a nine-game win streak by the Wildcats (18-4, 9-2).

■ No. 20 North Carolina State 69,

No. 7 Notre Dame 65: At Raleigh, N.C., Diamond Johnson scored 20 points for the Wolfpack (16-5, 6-4 ACC), who had a 16-point lead cut to two with 2:32 left. The Fighting Irish (17-3, 8-2) missed 17 of 23 3-point tries.

■ No. 9 Utah 71, No. 8 UCLA 69: At Salt Lake City, Alissa Pili scored a goahead layup with 0.8 seconds left and totaled 23 points and nine rebounds for the Utes (18-2, 8-2 Pac-12), who closed on a 7-0 run. The Bruins (17-5, 6-4) scored 17 points off 16 Utah turnovers. Men ■ No. 1 Purdue 77, Michigan State 61:

At West Lafayette, Ind., Zach Edey had 38 points and 13 rebounds for the Boilermake­rs (21-1, 10-1 Big Ten) in their eighth straight win. The Spartans (14-8, 6-5) haven’t won at Mackey Arena since 2014. ■ No. 23 Providence 70, Villanova 65: At Philadelph­ia, Jared Bynum scored 17 of his 19 points after intermissi­on for the Friars (17-5, 9-2 Big East). The Wildcats (10-11, 4-6) led by seven midway through the second half.
