Master Sergeant Donald L. Chase, United States Marine Corps (Retired) died Sunday, January 22, 2023. Don, 85, was a resident of Pahrump, NV. He was the son of the late Charles and Edna Chase. Don spent his formative years in Cincinnati, Ohio. After graduating from Withrow High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. In doing so he followed in the footsteps of his Uncle Joe who was a Marine combat veteran during WWII. Don’s 23.5-year Marine Corps career allowed him to serve around the world. He held various positions during his Marine Corp Service including Personnel Administra­tive Chief, Head Instructor of Admin School at Paris Island and was a member of the USMC Shooting Team. Following retirement from the Marine Corps, Don attended Northern Kentucky University and then went to work at the Military Entrance Processing Center in Cincinnati, Ohio as a civilian federal employee. He was also employed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for several years. He transferre­d to the Internal Revenue Services and retired from government service in 2003. Don was a quiet man who loved family and friends. He possessed the finest personal and military character and was a man of great honor and integrity. A good friend to all who knew him, Don loved music and enjoyed listening to Beethoven cds, spending time in nature, camping, traveling and sightseein­g with family. Left to cherish Don’s memory is his wife, Pattye Chase, children, family and numerous friends. No services at this time. A memorial celebratio­n will be held at a later date. Pahrump Family Mortuary is assisting the family with the arrangemen­ts.
