ANN G. DYE

-

Ann G. Dye passed away peacefully on February 1, 2023, just 4 days before her 84th birthday. She was born to Vera C. Gaufin and Arthur M. Gaufin on February 5, 1939, in Ely, Nevada. Ann spent her youth in Ely, where she worked all during school at her father’s drugstore. She left Ely in 1957 and studied at Utah State University and then Stevenshenager College in Salt Lake City, where she graduated with an Associate of Commercial Sciences degree. In 1960 she moved to Mercury, NV, and began her 31-year career working for Federal Services and later Reynolds Electrical and Engineering Company (REECO) at both the Nevada Test Site and in Las Vegas. Ann had many interesting assignments working for REECO, as she progressed from a division secretarial position on loan to Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory, to Secretary for Special Projects and later for the Planning Department, to Administrative Assistant and then Planning Coordinator for DOD programs. From 1979 to her retirement in 1991, Ann was the Program Manager for DOE and later DOD programs, with numerous trips to all areas of the Test Site and Los Alamos, Albuquerque, and Livermore. Ann married Richard (Dick) J. Dye in 1980 and the two of them had 25 beautiful years together before he passed away in 2005. After retiring in 1991, they traveled all over the country in several different RVS. Their trips took them to Alaska, Mexico, and barge trips on the Mississippi and Mobile Rivers. After Dick died, she continued traveling in her 40foot RV with her little dog for 10 years. In recent years, she loved doing crossword puzzles on her computer and being the computer "geek" who could help her friends with any problems with their

Mac computers and iphones. Ann was preceded in death by her parents Vera and Art, her husband Dick and Dick’s two sons Kenny and Steve, and by her sister, Janet G. Bybee. She is survived by her sister Shirley Gaufin (Tim Jackson), her nephew Mark (Tami) Bybee, and her nephew Shane (Kay) Bybee, as well as great nieces and nephew Janet Walker, Hailey Bybee, Spencer (Amanda) Bybee, and Emily Bybee and by great-great nieces and nephews Macayla Bybee, Payton Walker, Dylan Walker, Westin Ruesch, Brody Ruesch, and Nya Olsen-brown. At Ann’s request, there will be no funeral services. She wanted her family and friends to celebrate her life informally among themselves. If you wish to honor Ann, donations may be made to the Nevada Northern Railway in Ely, NV, or to the charity of your choice.
