GLORIA PALMER
Gloria passed away on January 28, 2023 in
Las Vegas, NV. She has left behind a legacy of laughter and love. A resident of Las Vegas since 1969 and married for 58 years to William “Bill” Palmer the founding director of Prestige Pools; she was, to him, the love of a lifetime. Being part of a large extended family of 13 brothers and sisters, she looked forward to family occasions and loved to joke and have fun with her clan. Her nieces and nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews were all extremely important to her and she took an active role in their lives. She saw them regularly and, whatever their foibles, would have defended them to the death. She spent many happy hours on the telephone with them catching up on their latest news and gossip. She was a wonderful artist in her own right, but she had no interest in pursuing a professional career. Many of her friends and relatives will cherish the paintings she gave them as gifts. Her marriage to Bill made her a part of the busy life of the business community of Las Vegas. Throughout their long marriage life, she remained detached from the business, which was her husband’s life. Both Gloria and Bill shared a love of travel and when Bill would be fly-fishing she would be sketching or painting the landscape. Above all she loved their second home in Utah where she was surrounded by a vast range of deer, foxes, wild turkeys and other wildlife. This was an extension of what she called her Zoo at home in
Las Vegas. Here she had a quiet life feeding the birds, watching her koi fish and looking after her cats. That is, of course when she wasn’t immersed in her art. Perhaps it was her artist’s instinct but Gloria especially loved to visit Alaska and British Columbia where watching the whales and bears was a favorite activity of hers. It is fitting then that her Heaven will be shared with the Creator of the animals she so loved in her lifetime.
