Rantanen, Avalanche rally to down Oilers in overtime
Mikko Rantanen scored with 21 seconds left in overtime, capping host Colorado’s rally from a three-goal deficit to beat Edmonton 6-5. Nathan Mackinnon and J.T. Compher each had a goal and an assist for the Avalanche in their third straight win. Warren Foegele scored twice for the Oilers, who lost their fourth straight and third in a row after regulation.
■ Wild 4, Predators 3: At St. Paul, Minn., Ryan Hartman knocked in a rebound to put Minnesota ahead with 21 seconds left, 26 seconds after ex-wild wing Nino Niederreiter scored the tying goal. Kirill Kaprizov scored twice for Minnesota, which won in regulation for the first time in 13 games dating to Jan. 17.
■ Coyotes 3, Blue Jackets 2, OT: At Tempe, Ariz., Barrett Hayton scored two minutes into overtime after Arizona had blown a two-goal lead in its fifth overtime game in its past six outings. The Coyotes improved to 5-0-4 in their past nine overall.
■ Blackhawks 5, Maple Leafs 3: At Chicago, Patrick Kane notched his ninth regular-season hat trick for Chicago, which went ahead to stay on rookie Cole Guttman’s first NHL goal with 9:18 left.
■ Devils 4, Jets 2: At Newark, N.J., Dawson Mercer scored twice for New Jersey, which overcame a 2-1 deficit after two periods in its sixth straight home win. AHL
■ Roadrunners 3, Silver Knights 2: At Tucson, Ariz., Hudson Elynuik scored with 5:02 left to cap Tucson’s rally from a 2-0 first-period deficit. Ivan Prosvetov had 36 saves for the Roadrunners (23-25-4), who were outshot 38-26. Sheldon Rempal and Lukas Cormier scored for the Silver Knights (16-29-5) in their seventh straight loss and fifth one-goal setback in a row. Tucson beat the Silver Knights by the same score Saturday.
