No. 1 Houston hits shot in last second, tops Memphis

Jamal Shead hit an 18-foot jumper as time ran out and totaled 16 points to help top-ranked Houston edge host Memphis 67-65. The Cougars (29-2, 17-1 AAC) erased a 56-51 deficit with a 10-0 run in their 11th straight win. Kendrick Davis scored 26 points for the Tigers (23-8, 135), who were 13-1 at home.

■ No. 5 Purdue 76, Illinois 71: At West Lafayette, Ind., the Boilermake­rs (26-5, 15-5 Big Ten) went ahead to stay with 56 seconds left after the Illini (20-11, 11-9) had overcome a 24-point second-half deficit to forge a tie with 1:17 to go.

■ No. 15 Indiana 75, Michigan 73,

OT: At Bloomingto­n, Ind., Trayce Jacksondav­is had 27 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Hoosiers (21-10, 12-8 Big Ten), who overcame a 12-point deficit in the last 12 minutes of regulation and forced a steal on the final possession by the Wolverines (17-14, 11-9).

■ Penn State 65, No. 21 Maryland

64: At State College, Pa., Camren Wynter hit a layup in the final second for the Nittany Lions (19-12, 10-10 Big Ten), who overcame a 16-point first-half deficit. Jahmir Young scored 26 points for the Terrapins (20-11, 11-9).

■ Kennesaw State 67, Liberty 66: At Kennesaw, Ga., Terrell Burden hit a free throw in the final second and totaled 19 points for the top-seeded Owls (26-8), who won the Atlantic Sun tournament title and gained their first NCAA Tournament berth. Kyle Rode scored 23 points for the second-seeded Flames (268).

■ UNC Asheville 77, Campbell 73: At Charlotte, N.C., Drew Pember scored 29 points for the top-seeded Bulldogs (27-7), who overcame a 14-point deficit in the

Big South tournament title game. The seventh-seeded Fighting Camels (16-18) didn’t score in the final 1:44.

■ Drake 77, Bradley 51: At St. Louis, Tucker Devries scored 22 points for the second-seeded Bulldogs (27-7), who shot 56 percent to win their first Missouri Valley tournament title since 1996. The top-seeded Braves (25-9) shot 34 percent.
