Jimenez helps lift UNR past Fresno State in OT

Alyssa Jimenez hit a tying jumper with 1.4 seconds left in regulation and totaled 23 points to help UNR top Fresno State 65-53 in overtime Sunday in the first game of the Mountain West women’s basketball tournament at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Lexie Givens scored 13 points for the eighth-seeded Wolf Pack (10-20), who next face No. 1 seed UNLV (28-2) in a quarterfin­al at noon Monday.

Amaya West scored 18 points for the ninth-seeded Bulldogs (10-22), who led 17-10 after one quarter. UNR rallied for a 26-all intermissi­on tie, and the game was close throughout the second half.

Two free throws by West put Fresno State 47-41 up with

3:37 left in the fourth quarter. Gimenez hit a 3-pointer to get the Wolf Pack within 49-46 with 1:27 to go.

■ San Jose State 62, Air Force 51: Jada Holland scored 24 points for the 10th-seeded Spartans (6-24), who won their third straight after an eight-game skid. They led 17-7 after one quarter and 26-14 at halftime.

Nikki Mcdonald was the lone double-figure scorer for the seventh-seeded Falcons (13-18), who shot 32 percent while missing 14 of 17 3-point tries and were outrebound­ed 45-27. They beat San Jose State twice in the regular season by a total of 20 points.

The Spartans next face second-seeded Wyoming (209) in a quarterfin­al at 5 p.m. Monday.

■ Boise State 66, Utah State 58: Mya Hansen scored 20 points for the sixth-seeded Broncos (17-15), who led 3426 at halftime and 54-40 after three quarters.

Tamiah Robinson had 20 points for the 11th-seeded Aggies (4-26), who shot 33 percent while missing 20 of 23 3-point tries in their 13th straight loss.

Boise State next plays third-seeded Colorado State (19-10) in a quarterfin­al at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
