Nevada fishing report

-

■ Lake Mead — Largemouth and smallmouth bass are moving into warmer waters and hitting crankbaits, dropshot rigs and crawdad plastics. Catfish have been caught from shore with cut anchovies. Unpredictable weather and high winds have limited striped bass reports.

■ Lake Mohave/willow Beach

— Trout are taking Powerbait and spinners north and south of the marina. Smallmouth and largemouth bass are hitting plastics and crankbaits near submerged brush and along cove edges. Striped bass are being caught with anchovies and jointed swimbaits near Telephone Cove.

■ Laughlin — Stocked rainbow trout are active below Casino Row, and striped bass action is picking up. Catfish also are becoming increasingly active, hitting frozen and cut anchovies.

■ Las Vegas urban ponds — Recent storms have slowed catch rates. Night crawlers and mealworms generally work best as the waters warm. Seasonal trout plants will end soon.

■ Kirch Wildlife Management Area

— Recent weather extremes have slowed catch rates and created unfavorable fishing conditions. Thin ice continues to form across the reservoirs. The upper ends of Cold Springs, Hay Meadow, Adams-mcgill and Dacey are closed because of waterfowl nesting.

■ Eagle Valley Reservoir — Sunny days are forecast for the next week, which will help thin the ice. A few anglers have found good ice fishing near the dam, though the ice is starting to thaw at the north end.

■ Echo Canyon Reservoir — The ice covering the reservoir isn’t thick enough for fishing.
