Three-pointer in last minute keys Colorado

No. 2 UCLA next for Buffaloes

Luke O’brien hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 59.8 seconds left and totaled 13 points and 10 rebounds to help Colorado beat Washington 74-68 in the Pac-12 men’s basketball tournament’s opening game Wednesday at T-mobile Arena.

Julian Hammond III scored 21 points for the ninth-seeded Buffaloes (17-15), who next face top-seeded and second-ranked UCLA (27-4) in a quarterfin­al at noon Thursday.

Cole Bajema and Keion Brooks each scored 16 points for the eighth-seeded Huskies (16-16), who beat Colorado twice in the regular season.

■ Washington State 69, California 52: T.J. Bamba scored 17 points for the fifth-seeded Cougars (17-15), who held a 43-29 edge in rebounds in their seventh straight win. They next face fourth-seeded Oregon (18-13) in a quarterfin­al at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Monty Bowser, averaging 3.4 points per game, scored a career-high 19 for the 12th-seeded Golden Bears (329), who lost their 16th straight.

■ Stanford 73, Utah 62:

Brandon Angel had 16 points and 12 rebounds for the 10th-seeded Cardinal (14-18), who had only four turnovers. They next face second-seeded and eighth-ranked Arizona (25-6) in a quarterfin­al at 6 p.m. Thursday. Branden Carlson had 27 points for the seventh-seeded Utes (17-15), who trailed 34-27 at halftime.

■ Arizona State 63, Oregon State 57: Warren Washington had 15 points for the sixth-seeded Sun Devils (2011), who next face third-seeded Southern California (22-9) in a quarterfin­al at 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The 11th-seeded Beavers (11-21) were outscored by three points in each half.

■ Colorado State 67, Fresno

State 65: Isaiah Stevens hit a go-ahead floater in the lane with 2.7 seconds left and totaled 19 points for the eighth-seeded Rams (15-17), who overcame a seven-point halftime deficit. John Tonje scored 20 points for Colorado State, which next faces top-seeded and 20th-ranked San Diego State (24-6) in a quarterfin­al at noon Thursday. Isaiah Hill scored 22 points and Eduardo Andre 20 for the ninth-seeded Bulldogs (11-20).

■ New Mexico 87, Wyoming 76: Jaelen House had 28 points, seven rebounds, six assists, three steals and one turnover for the sixth-seeded Lobos (22-10), who trailed 38-35 at halftime. They next play third-seeded Utah State (24-7) in a quarterfin­al at 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Hunter Maldonado scored 36 points for the 11th-seeded Cowboys (9-22).

UC Irvine 59, 2OT: Taylor Caldwell hit the go-ahead shot in the second overtime and totaled 19 points and six blocks for the ninth-seeded Roadrunner­s (822), who overcame a five-point fourth-quarter deficit. They next face fifth-seeded UC Santa Barbara in a quarterfin­al at noon Friday. The top-seeded Anteaters (24-6) shot 20.0 percent (15-for-75).

■ Hawaii 82, Cal State Fullerton 75, 2OT: Lily Wahinekapu had 20 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals for the third-seeded Rainbow Wahine (16-14), who next face second-seeded Long Beach State in a semifinal at 2:30 p.m. Friday. Ashlee Lewis had 22 points and nine rebounds for the sixth-seeded Titans (14-16).

■ UC Santa Barbara 70, UC Davis 36: Ila Lane had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the fifth-seeded Gauchos (2011), who had a 44-31 edge in rebounds and led 41-13 at halftime. The Aggies (16-14) shot 22.8 percent (13-for-57).

■ Long Beach State 55, UC Riverside 49: Tori Harris scored 14 points for the second-seeded Beach (23-8), who overcame a 24-17 halftime deficit. Matehya Bryant had 19 points and attempted the lone free throw for the 10th-seeded Highlander­s (6-26).

■ Stephen F. Austin 74, Sam Houston State 59: Aiyana Johnson had 17 points and 12 rebounds for the top-seeded Ladyjacks (26-5), who led 3227 at halftime. They next face fourth-seeded California Baptist in a semifinal at noon Friday. The ninth-seeded Bearkats (1317) shot 33.3 percent.

■ Grand Canyon 85, Seattle 80: Aaliyah Collins scored 15 points for the third-seeded Antelopes (21-9), who hit 34 of 41 free throws and overcame a seven-point deficit after three quarters. They next face second-seeded Southern Utah in a semifinal at 2 p.m. Friday. Taliyah Clark scored 22 points for the 11th-seeded Redhawks (6-24), who shot 50.0 percent.

■ Southern Utah 62, New Mexico State 61: Cherita Daugherty hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with two seconds left and totaled 14 points for the second-seeded Thunderbir­ds (21-9), who trailed 30-14 at halftime. The seventh-seeded Aggies (16-16) had a 22-12 scoring edge on free throws.

■ California Baptist 81, Utah Tech 72: Chloe Webb scored 17 points for the fourth-seeded Lancers (18-12), who trailed 34-30 at halftime and led 55-44 after three quarters. Taylia Stimpson had 20 points for the fifth-seeded Trailblaze­rs (19-12).
