GLUSMAN, MARTHA JEANNE PAHER, ROGER LEO TOMA, HIROSHI "HARRY" ROGER LEO PAHER
Roger Leo Paher, Doctor of Chiropractic, 81, passed away September 30, 2022 with his sons by his side, at Mountainview Hospital in Las Vegas, following a long struggle with renal failure. Roger was born June 5, 1941, in Las Vegas, the son of Stanley Michael and Dorothy Madonna (Betts) Paher, who built and owned the Gateway Motel on Las Vegas Boulevard from the late 1930s to 1972. He graduated in 1959 from Las Vegas
High School, where he played baseball in the outfield. He received an Associate of Arts degree from Florida College, a Bible college in Temple Terrace, Florida, where he met Carol Alford, his wife of 14 years. He loved to study the Scriptures, was a devoted patriot and was a friend of many from coast to coast. He served honorably in the Army National Guard from 1961 to 1967, achieving the rank of Private Second Class. After earning his Doctor of Chiropractic degree with honors from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles, he practiced the art from 1972 to 1982 in Fallon, Nevada. He and his wife operated a health food store, Carol’s Gateway to Health. Of significance in Paher’s life was his love for Slovenian culture including dancing and the language. His father and grandfather (Gabriel Pahor) emigrated from Europe in 1914. Roger loved to play the accordion and traveled great distances to attend polka dances. He was an avid reader of history, politics, constitutional law, economics and the Bible. Roger was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Caroline Betts; by his parents; two younger brothers, Kenneth Dale and
Gary Ross; and a grandson, David Elijah Paher. He is survived by his three children, Brian Paher and family of Texas; Rebecca (John) Kleiman of Orlando, Florida; and David (Philena) Paher of Richmond, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; and an older brother, Stanley W. Paher, a Nevada author and publisher who lives in Reno, Nevada. He will be interred in Slovenia. A marker will be placed at the family plot at the Cedar Grove Church of Christ cemetery located in Andalusia, Alabama.
