THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The Raiders took rookie defensive end Tyree Wilson off the non-football injury list Wednesday, paving the way for their first-round draft pick to finally get on the field.

Wilson, who suffered a foot injury in November during his final year at Texas Tech and has been sidelined ever since, took part in Raiders’ team drills in and around their joint practice against the Rams. Wilson did not do any head-to-head work against Los Angeles.

“It’s progressing the way we thought it would,” Raiders coach Josh Mcdaniels said of Wilson’s recovery. “So now it’s time to take the next step here and get him on the field and in his pads. Start working toward the ability to be in team drills and all that stuff.”

Wilson’s injury prevented him from working out for teams before the draft, including at the scouting combine in Indianapolis. The Raiders’ medical staff cleared him to be drafted with the No. 7 overall pick, but with the understanding that he would miss the entire offseason program and at least a portion of training camp.

The 6-foot-6-inch, 275-pound Wilson is expected to spell starting defensive ends Chandler Jones and

Maxx Crosby this season, with the three pass rushers almost certainly playing together on known passing downs at some point.

Adams, Mayer back

Wide receiver Davante Adams was back on the field Wednesday after leaving practice Friday because of a leg injury.

He was joined by tight end Michael Mayer, who missed more than a week of workouts with an undisclosed injury, and receiver Hunter Renfrow, who did not practice Friday.
