Colts give disgruntled Taylor permission to seek trade

-

The Indianapolis Colts are allowing disgruntled running back Jonathan Taylor to seek out a trade partner, a person with knowledge of the situation has told The Associated Press. The person requested anonymity because the details have not been released publicly. Coach Shane Steichen had said Sunday that Taylor was scheduled to travel with the team to Philadelphia where the Colts and Eagles will hold a joint practice Tuesday before playing their preseason finale Saturday. Taylor remains on the physically unable to perform list because of offseason ankle surgery. He’s also seeking a contract extension before his current deal expires after this season.

■ Dolphins: Coach Mike Mcdaniel said backup quarterback Mike White is in the NFL’S concussion protocol after team staff members noticed “irregularities” during Saturday’s preseason game at the Houston Texans. White entered the game for a series in the third quarter when Skylar Thompson was taken to the sideline to be evaluated for an injury. Mcdaniel said there is not yet a timeline for White’s return, but the Dolphins will re-sign quarterback James Blackman, who began training camp with Miami but was recently cut.

■ 49ers: San Francisco is still waiting for its best defensive player to arrive in camp with less than three weeks before the start of the season. Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa’s holdout entered its fifth week as the defensive end is still waiting for a lucrative contract extension to replace the final year of his rookie contract. Defensive coordinator Steve Wilks said he has no updates on the status of Bosa and remains focused on getting the rest of the defense ready for the opener on Sept. 10 at Pittsburgh.

■ Jaguars: Defensive tackle Davon Hamilton is “on the road to recovery” but remains away from the team while dealing with an undisclosed back issue. Coach Doug Pederson says Hamilton is “still being monitored by the medical professionals in town.” The Jaguars have provided few details about Hamilton’s situation. They say he is dealing with a non-football-related medical issue with his back.
