Karen Maureen Cummings, late of Las Vegas, passed away on August 17th, 2023, at home in Las Vegas after a long illness.

Karen was born in Huntingdon, PA, and went on to receive a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvan­ia. After graduating, she taught elementary school in Pennsylvan­ia, and then moved to Miami, Florida to become a Guidance Counselor for the state of Florida. In

1976 Karen relocated to Nevada, where she found employment with the state. Karen was a passionate and compassion­ate leader who made a lasting impact on those she served. Her work with the Special Children’s Clinic in Nevada and her dedication to the community of Las Vegas will not be forgotten. She was a beloved figure to many, and her absence is keenly felt. Karen is survived by her loving husband Colonel USAF (Retired) Peter Cummings, whom she met in 1986 and married in 1987; their loving union lasted 36 years until her passing. Karen was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mary Ryan of Huntingdon, PA and her son Russell Armor of Las Vegas. Home, 1401 S. Rainbow Blvd. Mass will be at 9am, Wed., Aug. 30, at Our Lady of Las Vegas Church, 3050 Alta Dr. Interment will follow at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Las Vegas Church in Karen’s name. Karen was a bright light, a one of a kind woman. She was kind and loving to all. May God show her eternal happiness in heaven.
