Clark hits game-winning logo 3 at buzzer for Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Caitlin Clark made a 3-pointer from the Hawkeyes logo at the buzzer, finishing with 40 points and giving No. 4 Iowa a 76-73 victory over Michigan State on Tuesday night.

Clark, the nation’s leading scorer, was 14 of 34 from the field and went more than 14 minutes without a point in a stretch in the second and third quarters. The Hawkeyes were able to get her the ball in the final seconds — though a long way from the basket — but Clark took the pass from Hannah Stuelke and hit from 30 feet as the buzzer sounded.

The Hawkeyes (14-1, 3-0 Big Ten) extended their winning streak to 11 games behind Clark and Stuelke, who had 15 points.

Michigan State (11-3, 1-2) had tied the game at 73 on Deedee Hagemann’s layup with 22 seconds left. After a timeout, the Hawkeyes worked the clock down. Stuelke fumbled the ball momentaril­y but recovered to get the ball to Clark for the winning shot.

Julia Ayrault had 16 points for the Spartans. Hagemann had 14 points. Moira Joiner and Tory Ozment each had 10 points.

■ No. 1 Purdue 67, Maryland 53:

At College Park, Md., Zach Edey had 23 points and 12 rebounds as the Boilermake­rs (13-1, 2-1 Big Ten) snapped the Terrapins’ (9-5, 1-2) 19-game home winning streak. Purdue won its sixth straight.

■ No. 4 Connecticu­t 85, Depaul 56:

At Storrs, Conn., Cam Spencer scored 20 points on 7 for 11 from the field, including 4 of 7 from 3-point range as the Huskies’ won their 17th straight over the Blue Demons (3-10, 0-2).

■ No. 5 Tennessee 87, Norfolk State 50: At Knoxville, Tenn., Zakai Zeigler scored 17 points and had four assists as the Volunteers (10-3) won their sixth straight game and 10th straight home game dating to last season. The Spartans (9-7) were led by Jamarii Thomas with 15 points and Christian Ings with 10.

■ No 8. North Carolina 70, Pittsburgh 57: At Pittsburgh, Armando Bacot had 16 points and 10 rebounds, RJ Davis added 15 points and four assists for the Tar Heels (10-3, 2-0 ACC), who outrebound­ed the Panthers (9-5, 0-3) 51-41.

■ No. 9 Illinois 96, Northweste­rn 66: At Champaign, Ill., Marcus Domask scored 32 points and had a team-high six assists for the Illini (11-2, 2-0), who never trailed and led by as many as 33 points. Boo Buie led the Wildcats (10-3, 1-1) with 20 points.

■ No. 13 Colorado State 74, New Mexico 68: At Fort Collins, Colo., Patrick Carter had 21 points for the Rams (13-1, 1-0 Mountain West), who outrebound­ed New Mexico 38-29. JT Toppin led the Lobos (12-2, 0-1) with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

■ No. 14 Duke 86, Syracuse 66: At Durham, N.C., Mark Mitchell scored 18 of his career-high 21 points in the first half for the Blue Devils (10-3, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference), who extended their streak to five. Judah Mintz added 18 points for the Orange (10-4, 1-2), which committed 17 turnovers.

■ No. 17 Florida Atlantic 79, East Carolina 64: At Boca Raton, Fla., Johnell Davis and Alijah Martin each scored 20 points for the Owls (11-3, 1-0). The Pirates (7-7, 0-1) have now lost 75 of their last 78 games against ranked opponents — and is 0-57 in such games on the road.

■ No. 18 Baylor 98, Cornell 79: At Waco, Texas, Ja’kobe Walter scored 23 points for the Bears (11-2). Nazir Williams had 17 points to lead the Big Red (10-3).

■ No. 21 Wisconsin 83, Iowa 72: At Madison, Wis., Tyler Wahl scored 19 points for the Badgers (10-3, 2-0 Big Ten), which won its third straight. Tony Perkins scored 25 points for the Hawkeyes (8-6, 0-3).

■ No. 25 Auburn 88, Pennsylvan­ia

68: At Auburn, Ala., Johni Broome had 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers (11-2), who won their sixth straight. Sam Brown went 4 of 6 on 3-pointers and led the Quakers (8-7) with 20 points.
