Echo

Disney+ & Hulu, 6 p.m. ■ New Series

This five-episode Marvel miniseries (all available tonight) finds Alaqua Cox back as Maya Lopez, aka Echo, her character that was introduced in the 2021 series Hawkeye. This series follows Lopez as she is pursued by the criminal empire of Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin (a returning Vincent D’onofrio). Charlie Cox is also expected to return as

Matt Murdock/daredevil to some extent. Other cast members include Chaske Spencer, Graham Greene, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Zahn Mcclarnon and Cody Lightning.

Echo is the first Marvel Studios series to be rated TV-MA, so probably not a show for the kiddies.

NCIS: Sydney

CBS, 8 p.m.

A man in a concealed U.S. Navy jacket drops dead from a cocaine overdose on a crowded bus in the new episode “Extraction.”

Finding Your Roots: ‘Forever Young’

PBS, 8 p.m.

Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. works with Valerie Bertinelli and Brendan Fraser, two actors who have spent their lives in the limelight without ever knowing about their roots, in helping discover some of their family histories.

Only Murders in the Building

ABC, 9 p.m.

Three back-to-back episodes of the popular Hulu comedy air tonight: In “The Sting,” Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short) and Mabel (Selena Gomez) seek advice from the renowned podcaster who brought them together (Tina Fey); in “Twist,” Mabel slips away on a solo mission to Long Island with a childhood friend and, unbeknowns­t to her, is followed by Charles and Oliver. Finally, in “To Protect and Serve,” the trio end up at Mabel’s mother’s house, while Detective Williams (Da’vine Joy Randolph) begins to have doubts about the case while preparing for motherhood.

La Brea

NBC, 9 p.m. ■ Season Premiere

The third and final six-episode season of the sci-fi sinkhole drama returns tonight. “The basic premise of the show is that anything could come down here, and in Season 3 we’re going to be able to exploit that in the biggest way, because we’ve opened up all these auroras,” tells series creator and showrunner David Appelbaum. In the season-premiere episode, “Sierra,” after the clearing is destroyed in a dinosaur attack, the survivors must find a new home. Meanwhile, Gavin (Eoin Macken) finds a clue about where Eve (Natalie Zea) has been taken, but tracking the lead down results in even more tragic consequenc­es.

Independen­t Lens: ‘Beyond Utopia’

PBS, 9 p.m.

This gripping documentar­y uses hidden-camera footage to reveal a world many have never seen as it follows families on a treacherou­s journey to defect from their homeland of North Korea even while the threat of severe punishment and possible execution looms over their passage.

Big Little Brawlers

Discovery Channel, 10 p.m. ■ New Series

This six-part reality series follows athletes in the Micro Wrestling Federation in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, one of the most successful little-person wrestling leagues in the world. Among the personalit­ies featured are Pinky Shortcake and Syko, parents and wrestling partners who must navigate their relationsh­ip in and out of the ring; the voice of micro wrestling, Ivar the Micro, who dreams of going from hype man to wrestler despite significan­t physical risk; popular veteran Lil Show, who wrestles to support his wife and children but fears his best moments in the ring are behind him; and up-and-coming wrestler Hotrod, who must prove that his talent lives up to his ego.
