Iowa State takes down No. 2 Houston

AMES, Iowa — Tamin Lipsey scored 14 points, freshman Milan Momcilovic made a baseline jumper with 30.2 seconds left and Iowa State beat No. 2 Houston 57-53 to knock off the nation’s final unbeaten team.

Iowa State secured its seventh win against a top-10 opponent in the last two seasons. That’s the most in Division I.

Houston had a 12-game road winning streak snapped with the loss Tuesday night. Emanuel Sharp scored 20 points, reaching the mark for the fourth time this season, for Houston. Jamal Shead added 14 points, surpassing 1,000 for his career.

Former UNLV head coach T.J. Otzelberge­r became the first Iowa State head coach to beat a team ranked No. 1 (North Carolina) and No. 2 (Houston) in the AP poll. Also, former Rebels guard Keshon Gilbert added eight points for Iowa State.

■ Nebraska 88, No. 1 Purdue 72: At Lincoln, Neb., Keisei Tominaga scored 19 points to lead the Cornhusker­s (13-3, 3-2 Big Ten), who beat a No. 1 team for the first time in 41 years. The Boilermake­rs (14-2, 3-2) had 14 turnovers.

■ No. 8 Kentucky 90, Missouri 77: At Lexington, Ky., Rob Dillingham scored 23 points off the bench, and Tre Mitchell had 20 points and 14 rebounds as the Wildcats (12-2, 2-0 Southeaste­rn Conference) won their sixth consecutiv­e. The Tigers (8-7, 0-2) are 0-9 at Rupp Arena.

■ No. 11 Duke 75, Pittsburgh 53: At Pittsburgh, Kyle Filipowski scored 26 points on 11 of 12 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Blue Devils (123, 3-1 ACC). The Panthers (10-6, 1-4) were held to 33 percent shooting.

■ No. 14 Baylor 81, No. 18 Brigham Young 72: At Waco, Texas, Jalen Bridges scored 17 of his 25 points after halftime as the Bears (13-2, 2-0 Big 12) rallied from a nine-point deficit. Spencer Johnson and Trevin Knell each had 15 points for the Cougars (12-3, 0-2).

■ No. 16 Auburn 66, Texas A&M 55: At Auburn, Ala., Jaylin Williams scored 22 points as the Tigers (13-2, 2-0 Southeaste­rn Conference) didn’t give up a field goal in the final nine minutes. The Aggies (9-6, 0-2) missed their last 10 shots and didn’t have a field goal after the 9:15 mark.

■ Boise State 65, No. 17 Colorado State 58: At Boise, Idaho, O’mar Stanley scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Broncos (11-4, 2-0 Mountain West Conference), who shot 39 percent from the field. The Rams (13-3, 1-2) struggled offensivel­y all night, shooting just 47 percent.

■ No. 19 San Diego State 81, San Jose State 78: At San Jose, Calif., Jaedon Ledee had 31 points and 10 rebounds for the Aztecas (14-2, 3-0 MW), who won their seventh in a row. The Spartans (7-9, 0-3) lost their third in a row.

■ No. 20 Utah State 83, Wyoming 59: At Logan, Utah, Great Osobor scored 20 points, Darius Brown II added 13 points and a season-high 11 assists for the Aggies (15-1, 3-0 Mountain West), who extended the nation’s longest win streak to 14 games. The Cowboys (8-8, 1-2) were outscored 48-26 in the second half.

■ No. 22 Creighton 84, Depaul 58: At Chicago, Baylor Scheierman and Ryan Kalkbrenne­r each scored 20 points as the Bluejays (12-4, 3-2 Big East) won their third consecutiv­e game. The Blue Demons (3-12, 0-4) lost for the fifth time in six games.

■ No. 25 Texas 74, Cincinnati 73: At Cincinnati, Dylan Disu scored a career-high 33 points and Max Abmas hit a go-ahead jumper with eight seconds for the Longhorns (12-3, 1-1 Big 12). The Bearcats (12-3, 1-1) shot a blistering 5 of 8 from 3-point range in the first half to keep the score close.
