Canucks forge tie with late hat trick, fall to Blues in OT

Brayden Schenn scored 1:54 into overtime as St. Louis beat host Vancouver 4-3 on Wednesday.

Pius Suter scored three third-period goals for the Canucks, including the tying goal with 52 seconds left in regulation, as Nhl-leading Vancouver (32-11-5) extended its point streak to 10 games (8-0-2).

Jake Neighbours had a goal and an assist in the first period for the Blues, who led 3-1 with 1:41 gone in the third period en route to their third straight win.

The Canucks haven’t lost in regulation since falling 2-1 at St. Louis on Jan. 4.

■ Hurricanes 3, Bruins 2: At Boston, Jordan Martinook scored on a breakaway with 2:27 left to snap a 2-all tie, and Carolina halted Boston’s five-game win streak. The Bruins had been 6-0-3 in their previous nine games. Brad Marchand’s two third-period goals rallied Boston from a 2-0 deficit. The goals gave Marchand 395, tying him with Hall of Fame defenseman Ray Bourque on the Bruins’ all-time list.

■ Maple Leafs 1, Jets 0, OT: At Toronto, Auston Matthews scored his Nhl-best 39th goal of the season with 47 seconds left in overtime, and Ilya Samsonov stopped 32 shots in his 12th shutout and second this season. Former Golden Knight Laurent Brossoit had 29 saves for Winnipeg, which lost a second straight game for the first time since Nov. 28.

■ Avalanche 6, Capitals 2: At Denver, Nathan Mackinnon scored three of his four goals consecutiv­ely in a 6:37 secondperi­od span for a natural hat trick and added an assist in his second four-goal game this season and eighth career hat trick. Mackinnon’s home points streak reached 24 games, breaking a tie with Joe Sakic for the Colorado record.

■ Kraken 6, Blackhawks 2: At Seattle, former Golden Knight Tomas Tatar scored twice for Seattle to back Joey Daccord, who had 34 saves, as the Kraken halted a four-game skid and handed Chicago its 18th straight road loss.

■ Sabres 5, Kings 3: At Los Angeles, former Golden Knight Alex Tuch scored the go-ahead goal 5:49 into the third period for Buffalo, which overcame a 3-1 deficit and dealt Los Angeles its fourth loss in five games.

■ Panthers 6, Coyotes 2: At Sunrise, Fla., Matthew Tkachuk scored twice for Florida to back Sergei Bobrovsky, who had 31 saves in the Panthers’ second straight win. They are 11-2-2 in their past 15 games. AHL

■ Firebirds 4, Silver Knights 3: At Dollar Loan Center, Andrew Poturalski had a goal and an assist for Coachella Valley (23-12-4), which overcame a 3-0 first-period deficit and had a 39-22 edge in shots in its third straight win and fourth in five games. The Silver Knights (19-19-4) went 3-for-4 on the power play, including a penalty-shot conversion by Daniil Miromanov, but lost for the seventh time in nine games.
