Golden State wins in return after assistant coach’s death

Stephen Curry and Jonathan Kuminga each scored 25 points as host Golden State won Wednesday in its first game after assistant coach Dejan Milojevic’s death last week, beating Atlanta 134-112.

In an emotional pregame ceremony, the teams stood united on one sideline near their benches and listened as the Serbian national anthem played in Milojevic’s honor. Each Warriors player then placed an extra jersey with Milojevic’s name on the back worn during warmups on one of the coaching chairs.

■ Bucks 126, Cavaliers 116: At Milwaukee, Giannis Antetokoun­mpo had 35 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists for his seventh triple-double this season and third in his past four games for Milwaukee, which won for the sixth time in seven games and halted Cleveland’s eight-game win streak. The Cavs never led after trailing for 35 seconds in their previous five games.

■ Suns 132, Mavericks 109: At Dallas, Devin Booker scored 22 of his 46 points in the third quarter for Phoenix, which overcame a 16-point second-quarter deficit in its seventh straight win. Luka Doncic had 34 points, nine assists and eight rebounds for Dallas, which was without fellow Allstar Kyrie Irving (right thumb sprain) in its fourth loss in five games.

■ Timberwolv­es 118, Wizards 107: At Washington, Anthony Edwards scored 15 of his 38 points in the fourth quarter for Minnesota, which avoided its first three-game skid this season. Washington lost its fifth in a row, its fourth slide of at least that many games in 2023-24.

■ Trail Blazers 137, Rockets 131, OT: At Houston, Anfernee Simons scored 33 points for Portland, which forced overtime on Jerami Grant’s off-balance 3-pointer at the buzzer. The Blazers opened the extra period on a 9-2 run and dealt Houston its fifth loss in six games.

■ Thunder 140, Spurs 114: At San Antonio, Shai Gilgeous-alexander had 32 points and 10 assists for Oklahoma City, which shot 56.3 percent in its fourth straight win and eighth in 10 games. San Antonio lost for the sixth time in seven.

■ Pistons 113, Hornets 106: At Detroit, Bojan Bogdanovic hit a tying 3-pointer with 1:46 left and totaled 34 points for Detroit (5-39), which halted a three-game skid with its second win in 12 games and third in 41.

■ Grizzlies 105, Heat 96: At Miami, Vince Williams Jr. scored 25 points for Memphis, which was missing nine players because of injuries but handed Miami its fourth straight loss. G League

■ Remix 110, Ignite 102: At Portland, Ore., George Conditt IV had 22 points and 17 rebounds for Portland (15-11), which didn’t trail in the fourth quarter of its fifth straight win. Ron Holland scored 31 points for the Ignite (4-26) in their 17th loss in a row.
