Fleury feted, boosts Wild past Penguins

- From staff and wire reports

Kirill Kaprizov scored the tiebreaking goal at 9:34 of the third period to back Marc-andre Fleury, who stopped 32 shots against his first NHL team, as Minnesota beat Pittsburgh 3-2 on Friday in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Fleury, an original Golden Knight who notched his 553rd NHL win, was honored in a pregame ceremony nearly a month after passing Patrick Roy (551) for second in league history. The 39-year-old trails only Martin Brodeur (691).

Fleury had 375 wins with the Penguins and 117 with the Knights.

Matt Boldy and Jonas Brodin scored for the Wild, who have won five of their past seven. Former Golden Knight Reilly Smith and Sidney Crosby scored for Pittsburgh, which had won two in a row.

With all eyes on Fleury and fans providing several “Fleury” chants, he held strong back in net for the first time in five games after being sidelined by an upper-body injury.

■ Oilers 5, Ducks 3: At Anaheim, Calif., Connor Mcdavid assisted on third-period goals by Zach Hyman and Leon Draisaitl to give Edmonton the lead, and Evander Kane capped his hat trick with an empty-net goal in the Oilers’ 17th win in 18 games. Ryan Strome scored twice for Anaheim, which had won two in a row and was 3-0-1 in its previous four games.

■ Rangers 4, Blackhawks 3, OT: At Chicago, Mika Zibanejad scored 2:36 into overtime to back Igor Shesterkin, who had 28 saves in his first start since Jan. 26, as New York won its fourth in a row. Jason Dickinson scored the second of Chicago’s two third-period goals with 1:02 left in regulation to tie it at 3. But the Blackhawks lost their sixth in a row.

■ Silver Knights 4, Reign 3, SO: At Ontario, Calif., Sheldon Rempal scored the tying goal with 9:11 left in regulation and had an assist, and Jakub Brabenec had the lone shootout goal as the Silver Knights (21-20-6) won for the second time in seven games. Tyler Madden had a goal and an assist for Ontario (22-18-5), which lost its fifth in a row and eighth in nine games.
