A single-day record 103,978 travelers were screened Monday by Transportation Security Administration officials at Harry Reid International Airport as visitors left Las Vegas following the Super Bowl.

The previous record was 103,409 people screened Oct. 29, 2023, TSA officials said Tuesday.

A total of 65,708 checked bags were also screened, airport officials said.

“It has been a spectacular week of activities that brought tens of thousands of people to Las Vegas in anticipation of the Super Bowl game and related festivities. With the game behind us, TSA made good on its commitment to deliver efficient security operations and excellent customer service to all those who were screened at LAS Monday,” Karen Burke, the TSA federal security director for Nevada, said in a statement.

TSA had four of the five security checkpoints at Harry Reid open starting Sunday morning. On Monday, as the rush of Super Bowl attendees left town, it opened the fifth checkpoint.

The local TSA had plenty of help, with 75 agents from 30 airports nationally in Las Vegas to help with Super Bowl passenger traffic.

The longest wait time to get through security was 12 minutes in standard screening and four minutes in pre-check, officials said.

From 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, more than 7,700 people were screened, TSA said.

The work of the TSA wasn’t limited to the airport.

Agents handled screening at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center for the NFL Experience and at Allegiant Stadium, which in addition to Sunday’s game, hosted multiple events during the week.

TSA also deployed security teams with the Las Vegas Monorail and the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada to help monitor public transportation around the stadium, officials said.

“The months of coordination and planning paid off. I am proud of what the TSA team accomplished and we are grateful for the support of all our transportation stakeholders and partners in making this record-setting day a success,” Burke said.
