No. 14 Indiana women cruise by Clark, fourth-ranked Iowa

Sara Scalia scored 25 points and Mackenzie Holmes 24 as No. 14 Indiana throttled No. 4 Iowa 86-69 on Thursday in Bloomingto­n, Indiana.

The defending regular-season Big Ten champion Hoosiers (22-4, 13-3) shot 51.6 percent, and the Hawkeyes (23-4, 12-3) were outrebound­ed 42-33.

Caitlin Clark, playing for the first time since breaking the NCAA women’s scoring record, had 24 points on 8-for-26 shooting, 10 assists and nine rebounds for Iowa. Clark has 3,593 points and is 57 away from her next milestone, Lynette Woodard’s major women’s college scoring record, with three regular-season games left.

■ No. 1 South Carolina 72, Alabama 44: At Columbia, S.C., the Gamecocks (26-0, 13-0 SEC) clinched a share of their third straight regularsea­son league title with their 44th consecutiv­e regular-season league win and gave coach Dawn Staley her 600th victory. The Crimson Tide (208, 7-6) trailed 33-11 after a first half in which they shot 15.6 percent.

■ No. 2 Ohio State 82, Penn State 69: At State College, Pa., Jacy Sheldon scored 20 points for the Buckeyes (23-3, 14-1 Big Ten), who scored 30 points off 27 turnovers by the Lady Lions (1611, 7-9) and never trailed in their 14th straight win. Penn State lost its sixth in a row.

■ North Carolina 80, No. 6 North Carolina State 70: At Chapel Hill, N.C., Lexi Donarski scored 23 points for the Tar Hells (18-9, 10-5 ACC), who shot 50.8 percent while hitting 11 of 21 3-point tries and didn’t trail after the first quarter. Aziaha James had 24 points for the Wolfpack (23-4, 11-4), who shot 35.2 percent. Top 25 men

■ No. 3 Purdue 96, Rutgers 68: At West Lafayette, Ind., Zach Edey scored 25 points and Camden Heide 18 on near-perfect shooting for the Boilermake­rs (24-3, 13-3 Big Ten), who shot 58.9 percent. The Scarlet Knights (14-12, 6-9) were outrebound­ed 35-22. Edey was 7-for-8 from the field and hit 11 free throws without a miss. Heide, who had averaged 3.0 points, hit all seven of his shots, including four 3-pointers.
