Strus sinks 59-footer at the final horn; Cavs beat Mavs

CLEVELAND — Max Strus drilled a 59-footer as time expired, his fifth made 3-pointer in the final four minutes, to give the Cleveland Cavaliers a wild 121-119 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night. After the Mavericks took the lead on P.J. Washington’s dunk with 2.9 seconds left, the Cavs quickly inbounded the ball. Evan Mobley passed the baal to Strus, who made four 3s in a span of 67 seconds down the stretch to keep Cleveland close. Strus then took a dribble before launching his shot from well beyond mid-court. As it swished through the net, Strus was tackled to the floor by teammates as the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse crowd erupted.

■ Timberwolv­es 114, Spurs 105: At Minneapoli­s, Anthony Edwards scored 34 points for Minnesota, which handed San Antonio its fifth straight loss. Edwards appeared to injure his left ankle before halftime, staying on the ground for several minutes before he was helped off with assistance from team athletic trainers. But Edwards came out after halftime as an anxious crowd cheered the All-star.

■ Warriors 123, Wizards 112: At Washington, Klay Thompson scored 25 points, and Stephen Curry was held scoreless in the first half for the first time in the regular season since Nov. 23, 2012. Chris Paul made his return to the lineup after missing 21 games with a broken hand.

■ Thunder 112, Rockets 95: At Oklahoma City, Shai Gilgeous-alexander led Oklahoma City with 31 points as the Thunder won their sixth straight. Chet Holmgren set a Thunder record with his 17th double-double of the season. He finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

■ Celtics 117, 76ers 99: At Boston, Jaylen Brown scored 31 points as Boston earned its ninth straight win. The Celtics notched their 25th consecutiv­e home win over an Eastern Conference opponent.

■ Hawks 124, Jazz 97: At Atlanta, Jalen Johnson scored 22 points with 13 rebounds and Atlanta never trailed after scoring the first 12 points. The Hawks have won two straight games.

■ Pelicans 115, Knicks 92: At New York, Trey Murphy III had 26 points and seven rebounds for New Orleans, which outscored New York 41-25 in the fourth quarter.

■ Pistons 105, Bulls 95: At Chicago, Cade Cunningham scored 26 points for Detroit, which stopped a six-game losing streak. Chicago made just 2 of 29 3-pointers.

■ Bucks 123, Hornets 85: At Milwaukee, Giannis Antetokoun­mpo had 24 points and Damian Lillard had 23 points for Milwaukee, which won its third straight.

■ Magic 108, Nets 81: At Orlando, Fla., Franz Wagner scored 17 of his 21 points in the first half for Orlando, which handed Brooklyn its fifth loss in six games.

■ Heat 106, Trail Blazers 96: At Portland, Ore., Jimmy Butler had 22 points and nine rebounds for Miami, which win its fifth straight.
