Rookie delivers again to help Dallas cool off Jets

Dallas rookie Logan Stankoven scored for the third time in his four NHL games, and Joe Pavelski had a goal and an assist as the host Stars beat Winnipeg 4-1 on Thursday to take over first place in the Central Division.

Pavelski and Stankoven scored 96 seconds apart late in a three-goal first period for Dallas, which was 1-3-3 in its previous seven games. Jake Oettinger had 25 saves for his 100th win in 177 regularsea­son NHL games.

Connor Hellebuyck stopped 32 shots for the Jets, who had won four in a row and seven of their previous eight. The 21-year-old Stankoven had an Ahl-high 57 points (24 goals, 33 assists) when he was promoted Saturday from Texas.

■ Avalanche 5, Blackhawks 0: At Chicago, Zach Parise had two goals and an assist, Nathan Mackinnon had a goal and an assist to reach 100 points in 61 games this season, and Justus Annunen stopped 25 shots in his first shutout in his ninth NHL game. Colorado improved to 4-1-1 in its past six games and dealt Chicago its fifth straight loss and 13th in 14 games.

■ Panthers 4, Canadiens 3, SO: At Sunrise, Fla., Aleksander Barkov had a goal and two assists in regulation and scored in the shootout for Florida in its third straight win and ninth in 10 games. Sam Reinhart scored on a power play and short-handed for the Panthers, who allowed more than two goals for the first time in 15 games dating to Jan. 19.

■ Hurricanes 4, Blue Jackets 2: At Columbus, Ohio, Brady Skjei had a goal and an assist for Carolina, and Spencer Martin stopped 20 shots to improve to 4-0-1 with the Hurricanes, who claimed him off waivers from Columbus on Jan. 19. Carolina is 6-1-1 in its past eight games.

■ Islanders 5, Red Wings 3: At

Detroit, Mathew Barzal assisted on the second of Brock Nelson’s two goals and scored a tiebreakin­g goal with 6:02 left for New York. Olli Maatta scored twice for Detroit, which had won six in a row for the first time in five years.

■ Sabres 3, Lightning 2, OT: At Tampa, Fla., Rasmus Dahlin assisted on Tage Thompson’s tying power-play goal with 8:27 left in regulation and scored a powerplay goal 1:42 into overtime, rallying Buffalo to its fourth win in five games.

■ Maple Leafs 4, Coyotes 2: At Toronto, William Nylander scored an empty-net goal and had two assists as Arizona lost its 14th in a row. Matthew Knies had a goal and an assist for Toronto, which won for the eighth time in nine games.

■ Kraken 2, Penguins 0: At Seattle, Philipp Grubauer stopped 33 shots in his 21st shutout and first this season, and

Alex Wennberg had a power-play goal and an assist as Seattle halted Pittsburgh’s three-game win streak.

■ Kings 5, Canucks 1: At Vancouver, British Columbia, Kevin Fiala and Drew Doughty each had a goal and two assists as Los Angeles dealt Vancouver its sixth loss in seven games.

■ Ducks 6, Sharks 4: At San Jose, Calif., Adam Henrique had a goal and two assists for Anaheim, which halted a threegame skid and handed San Jose its fifth straight loss.

■ Predators 6, Wild 1: At Nashville,

Tenn., Roman Josi had a goal and two assists to back Juuse Saros, who stopped 33 shots in Nashville’s seventh straight win.
