Davis dominates, powers Lakers past Timberwolv­es

Anthony Davis had 27 points, a seasonhigh 25 rebounds and a career-high seven steals while leading the host Los Angeles Lakers past short-handed Minnesota 120109 on Sunday.

Davis added five assists and three blocked shots in one of the most prolific games of his decorated career. The ninetime All-star feasted on a Timberwolv­es lineup missing its top two big men and four regulars because of injuries, grabbing 21 rebounds in the second half alone and leading a 21-4 rally to begin the fourth quarter as the Lakers won for the 12th time in 17 games.

Lebron James had 29 points, nine assists and eight rebounds, and Austin Reaves added 19 points as Los Angeles knocked off another top team following wins over Oklahoma City and Milwaukee on their six-game homestand.

The Lakers (36-30) are six games above .500 for the first time this season.

Naz Reid hit five 3-pointers and totaled 25 points in his first start of the season for Minnesota, which hit 16 of its seasonhigh 46 3-point attempts.

Jr. had 18 points and 10 rebounds for Philadelph­ia, which halted a three-game skid while holding New York to the NBA’S lowest point total this season. The Sixers led 37-31 at intermissi­on, the league’s lowest-scoring first half since Portland led Detroit 34-31 on March 30, 2019, in a game the Pistons won 99-90.

■ Bucks 124, Clippers 117: At Los Angeles, Damian Lillard scored 16 of his 35 points in the fourth quarter for Milwaukee, which halted a two-game California skid. Giannis Antetokoun­mpo had 34 points and 10 assists for the Bucks. Los Angeles, which had won four of its previous five, rested Kawhi Leonard (sore left groin) and Paul George (sore left knee).

■ Rockets 112, Kings 104: At Sacramento, Calif., Fred Vanvleet had 22 points to lead seven double-figure scorers for Houston, which lost top scorer Alperen Sengun (21.2 ppg) to a right knee injury in the last minute. The Rockets won for the fourth time in five games.

■ Wizards 110, Heat 108: At

Miami, Kyle Kuzma scored 32 points for Washington, which went ahead to stay with 8:17 left in its second straight win after a 16-game slide. The Wizards had lost eight in a row on the road dating to Jan. 29. Miami lost its third in a row.

■ Pacers 111, Magic 97: At Orlando, Fla., Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam each scored 20 points for Indiana, which closed within one game of Orlando in the East. The Magic lost a second straight game for the firs time since Jan. 26.

■ Nets 120, Cavaliers 101: At Cleveland, Cam Thomas scored 29 points in 31 minutes for Brooklyn, which led by 26 midway through the fourth quarter. Cleveland has alternated wins and losses for its past eight games.

■ Thunder 124, Grizzlies 93: At Oklahoma City, Shai Gilgeous-alexander had 23 points and six assists in three quarters for Oklahoma City, which won for the fourth time in five games and stayed atop the West.

■ Pelicans 116, Hawks 103: At Atlanta, reserve Trey Murphy III scored 28 points and Zion Williamson 27 for New Orleans, which won its fourth in a row and halted Atlanta’s three-game win streak.
