Messi out of pair of Argentina’s friendlies in US due to muscle injury

Lionel Messi will not play in Argentina’s two friendlies in the United States this month due to a right leg muscle injury. The Argentina Football Associatio­n made the announceme­nt. The captain was injured last week while playing for his Inter Miami club in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. He will miss Argentina’s matches against El Salvador on Friday in Philadelph­ia and against Costa Rica four days later in Los Angeles.

■ Golf: UNLV senior Yuki Moriyama holds the individual lead while the Rebels’ men’s golf team is tied for second after two rounds of the All American Intercolle­giate at the Golf Club of Houston. Moriyama is at 4-under 140, good for a one-shot lead in the 100-player field with one round to play. Senior Caden Fioroni is tied for fifth, three shots back. The Rebels are at 8 over, tied with Texas Tech and four shots behind leader Sam Houston State.

■ NHL: The Sports Business Journal announced Monday that the Golden Knights are one of five nominees for the publicatio­n’s Sports Team of the

Year Award. The winner will be announced at the 17th annual Sports Business Awards on May 22 in New York.
