Point, Lightning stay on roll, beat Atlantic-leading Bruins

Brayden Point scored his 42nd goal of the season to break a 1-all tie in the second period as surging Tampa Bay beat Atlantic Division-leading Boston 3-1 on Wednesday in Tampa, Florida.

Andrei Vasilevski­y stopped 23 shots and had an assist for the Lightning, who won their second straight and are 7-0-1 in their past eight games. They moved within two points of third-place Toronto in the Atlantic.

Linus Ullmark had 28 saves for the Bruins, who lost for the third time in four games. Mitchell Chaffee opened the scoring midway through the first period for Tampa Bay, and Danton Heinen answered 7:05 later.

■ Senators 6, Sabres 2: At Buffalo, N.Y., Shane Pinto had three assists in Ottawa’s fivegoal first period and scored an empty-netter in the third as the Senators won their third straight. Joonas Korpisalo stopped 34 shots while improving to 5-1 in his past six starts. UkkoPekka Luukkonen was yanked after allowing four goals on nine shots in the opening 8:49.
