Oh, brothers: Naylors’ feats lift Cleveland

-

The Naylor brothers turned National Siblings Day into a family affair.

Bo Naylor and Josh Naylor delivered RBI hits in the 10th inning after both homered in the fourth as host Cleveland rallied past the Chicago White Sox 7-6 on Wednesday.

Josh Naylor tied it in the 10th with a runscoring double before turning it over to his younger brother. With the bases loaded, Bo Naylor dropped a single into right off former Guardians reliever Bryan Shaw (0-1) as Cleveland came back after trailing 5-0.

“Playing games as kids prepared us for those moments,” said Josh Naylor, 26, a first baseman, who is 32 months older than Bo, a catcher.

The Naylors’ homers came off UNLV product Erick Fedde, who also yielded a solo shot in the fifth to Steven Kwan. Fedde allowed four earned runs on four hits over five innings.

Gavin Sheets hit a three-run homer and two RBI doubles for Chicago (2-10). Cleveland (9-3) is off to its best start since opening 11-1 in 2002.

The game marked the second time the Naylors have homered in the same inning, having done it July 14 last season at Texas. Before the Naylors connected last season, the last brothers to homer in the same inning were B.J. and Justin Upton for Atlanta in 2013.
