Southwest Medical and Optum – Nevada: Local care backed by national experts
Southwest Medical is home to some of the most knowledgeable and dedicated health care professionals in the nation, and with its 50-plus-year history in the community, Southwest Medical has always looked for ways to continue to improve on its personalized, patientcentered care. It’s why Southwest Medical partnered with Optum back in 2013, to provide patients even more options.
The right health care changes everything, and that’s why Southwest Medical offers more choices.
Optum – Nevada is a robust collection of care specialists throughout the Las Vegas Valley, offering local care backed by national experts. Patients of Southwest Medical and Optum get a full range of primary care and specialty care services, from screenings and shots to treatments for ongoing health issues, and much more.
Helping you on your health journey
The Southwest Medical and Optum teams strive to ensure each visit is efficient and friendly and works to ensure patients can easily get the care they need, including quick initial visits.
Patients work with their primary care providers (PCPS) to create a plan to meet their health goals, while nurse practitioners (NPS and APRNS) and physician assistants (PAS) support patients’ care. And when patients can best be served by specialists, PCPS send patients to pediatricians, obstetrician/gynecologists, cardiologists, allergists, oncologists and others.
Because patients’ health information is stored in the system, all care is chronicled, ensuring that physicians and others who offer treatment are always up to date on patient care.
Annual physical or well-care visit
During an annual wellness exam, patients meet with their doctor to:
• Check past medical, social and family history.
• Have a physical exam and check body systems.
• Talk about medicines, lab tests, vaccines and shots.
• Review ways to lower risk factors. • Look into suggested screenings. This visit gives patients a chance to set health goals and create a plan to achieve those.
For those 65 and older
Medicare Advantage members enjoy access to a wide range of new and growing care groups in the region, including primary care and specialty care services – totaling more than 3,000 providers, and several hospitals throughout the state.
