Yu know it: Padres shut out Dodgers
From staff and wire reports
Yu Darvish yielded two hits in seven shutout innings to lead host San Diego past the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-0 on Sunday.
Fernando Tatis Jr., Jake Cronenworth and Xander Bogaerts homered in the Padres’ fifth win in eight games against the Dodgers this season. Los Angeles lost twice in the three-game series after a seven-game win streak.
Darvish (3-1) struck out seven and walked one, lowering his ERA to 2.43, as San Diego won its fourth straight series. Dodgers starter Walker Buehler (0-1), in his second game this season, allowed two runs on five hits, two walks and a hit-batsman in 3⅓ innings.
Buehler surrendered consecutive homers to Tatis and Cronenworth in the first. Bogaerts’ blast came in the fifth off Gus Varland and put the Padres up 4-0.
The attendance mark of 133,970 for the weekend set a three-game series attendance record in Petco Park’s 20-year history. The previous three-game series record of 133,856, set in April 2022, also was against the Dodgers.
