Roy P. Matthew

MYERSTOWN - Roy P. Matthew, 81, of Myerstown, formerly of Newmanstown, passed away Monday, November 20, 2023 at the VA Medical Center-Lebanon. Born in Heidelberg Township on April 26, 1942, he was a son of the late Emlin J. and Christine R. (Beamesderfer) Matthew.

Roy worked as an industrial electrician at North American Refractories Womelsdorf, PA., for 36 years and then worked for Morgan’s Welding for 4 years until his retirement.

He was a 1960 graduate of Newmanstown High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a lifetime member of Womelsdorf VFW, Millcreek Rod & Gun Club, R. Field & Stream, Weavertown and the Goodwill Fire Co., Myerstown. He enjoyed hunting, time at his cabin and working around the house.

Roy is survived by two daughters, Michelle, wife of Michael Plempel, of Womelsdorf and Melissa, wife of Ben Keller, of Lebanon; a son,Brian Matthew, of Myerstown;.5 grandchildren, Ashley Moore, Skyler Eiceman, Stephanie Beamesderfer, Elizabeth Verna & Sarah Kleinfelter, 6 great-grandchildren, Roman, Hudson, Tripp, Talon, Emmett and Luke; three sisters, Betty, widow of Arthur Patches, of Myerstown; Loretta, wife of Robert Bausher, of Stouchsburg; Mary Lou Kreiser, of Newmanstown; a brother, James Matthew, of Newmanstown as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lebanon VA Medical Center, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042. Grose Funeral Home, Inc.-Myerstown is in charge of arrangements.
