Columbus police have issued a murder warrant in the April 28 shooting death of Darrell Boggans on Winston Road.

Decarlos Warren, who was charged in an unrelated July 16 shooting on Toney Drive, now faces a murder charge, Police Lt. Greg Touchberry announced Thursday.

Boggans, 43, was found with a gunshot wound after officers were called to the scene. He was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional midtown campus where he died.

Warren, 20, is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has a dagger tattoo on his forehead, faith and praying hands on his stomach and a cross on his left arm.

Police were looking for 24-year-old Damion “Dae-Dae” Collier in two homicides before he was shot and killed May 2 at 35th Street and River Road by officers in the Fugitive Squad.

Collier was wanted in the Easter morning shooting death of Alec Spencer, 24, at the Night Life club, an unlicensed business at 480 Andrews Road. He was identified as the shooter in the club incident where three men including Boggans were shot.

Police had outstanding warrants on him for aggravated assault, convicted felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime when the officers observed Collier at the Wilson Homes public housing complex and followed him after he entered a Ford Fiesta.

The second homicide was the April 28 shooting of Boggans. He and another man were victims in the April 1 shooting at the nightclub.

The fatal shooting of Boggans was under investigation when Collier was shot. Collier wasn’t named as a suspect in the Winston Road shooting, police said Friday.
