Two Babies on the Way!

Three years after welcoming son Isaiah, Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher get ready to expand their family again — times two! April 9, 2018

-

It’ s been five long months since a freak accident left Carrie Underwood “not quite looking the same,” as she says, with “between 40 and 50 stitches” in her face. Yet the country music superstar still hasn’t made a public appearance.

Turns out there’s a happy reason she’s continued to keep such a low profile. Carrie and husband Mike Fisher have been trying for a baby during her hiatus from the spotlight, Life & Style has exclusively learned, and pals believe an announcement about their expanding family is imminent. “Friends think Carrie is pregnant, and the buzz is that she’s expecting twins!” reveals an insider. “If you know Carrie at all, she’s been wanting at least two more kids since she had Isaiah in 2015. Twins would be music to her ears!”

THE SIGNS ARE THERE

When Carrie, 35, announced the gruesome details of her Nov. 10 fall on the steps outside her Nashville home (she also broke her wrist in the accident) to fans in Janu- ary, she made a promise: “I am determined to make 2018 amazing.” Mission accomplished! While health- conscious Carrie is normally strict about her vegetarian diet and hard- core workout routines, pals say the fact that she’s been putting on weight lately is a major clue she’s expecting twins. “She’s eating far more than she ever did last time she was pregnant and craving foods like dark chocolate and Subway veggie sandwiches,” says the insider. “Carrie’s also begun scaling back on sessions with her personal trainer.”

Just as tellingly, she’s

ramped up the baby talk. Aside from remarking to pals about how cute baby clothes have gotten since she and Mike, 37, welcomed Isaiah, now 3, “both she and Mike have said that their next big home renovation project is a room for a nursery,” says the insider. “Carrie loves fairy tales and children’s books, and I’m sure she would custom design the room as a little kingdom for the twins and stock it with classic books.”

If all goes according to plan, the color scheme will have to be genderneutral. “Of course, Mike and Carrie would feel

blessed no matter the genders, but having one of each would be their ideal,” says a friend. “Carrie wants Isaiah to have a little sister, while Mike wants him to have a little brother, someone to roughhouse with like he did with his two brothers growing up.”

Luckily, Mike and Carrie have enough names picked out to cover them

no matter what happens in the delivery room. “They’re leaning toward biblical names like they did with Isaiah,” shares the insider. “Frontrunners are Caleb and Daniel for boys and Faith and Rachel for girls.” Also in contention? “Ruth and Jacob,” adds a pal. “One thing Carrie is against is having coordinated names. She wants her

children to have their own unique identities.”

SAVING THEIR MARRIAGE

Friends are thrilled for the couple. After all, until recently they weren’t even sure Carrie and Mike’s marriage would make it to 2018. After her mysterious fall — unanswered questions include where Mike was at the time — and his return to pro hockey six months after he supposedly said goodbye to the ice for good, “friends feared they were close to splitting,” says the insider. “Their differing personalities, interests and sched-

ules really took a toll on the marriage.”

But despite the rough patch, divorce was never an option for Carrie, who tied the knot with Mike in 2010. “Faith-based marriage counseling and dedicating quality time to each other has brought them back from the breaking point,” says the insider. “Now the idea of having more children has brought them closer together than ever. Carrie doesn’t think the timing could be more perfect to have twins.”

REASON TO CELEBRATE

Her celebrity pals can’t wait to celebrate with her. While Carrie has yet to officially announce her twin joy, the insider says the buzz about her pregnancy has fellow country singers like Miranda Lambert, Kellie Pickler, Faith Hill and Brad Paisley “starting to send gifts already.”

A happy, healthy family is the only gift Carrie needs — especially after her scary 2017 mishap. But that accident is actually what allowed her to take a break from her hectic schedule and spend more time with her growing family. “It’s all on God’s timing,” Carrie says of giving Isaiah siblings. “We just kind of realize we’re not in control and just take things as they come.”
