WHY CHRISTINA REALLY LEFT THEVOICE
Christina Aguilera’s new album title says it all: Liberation. Two years after she left The Voice, the “Beautiful” singer, 37, is opening up about why she needed to break free of the hit singing competition show. “I didn’t get into this business to be a television show host and to be given all these [rules],” she recently told Billboard. “You realize it’s not about music. It’s about making good TV moments and massaging a story.” So the songbird is getting back to her roots with her first studio album since 2012’s Lotus and her first tour in a decade. “She spent most of her time on The Voice feeling trapped, and she’s happy to leave it all behind,” a music industry source tells Life & Style. “She’s a great singer and entertainer, first and foremost, and she never wants to be complacent again. She’s never going back to The Voice. She’s making that very clear.”
Christina was a coach on The Voice on and off from 2011 to 2016, “but she was suffocating in the TV environment,” says a source.
