Kim Kardashian is in tears over her marriage as Kanye West spirals out of control.
It was a wild, troubling weekend for Kanye West. First he announced he’d changed his name to “Ye.” Later, after performing on the Sept. 29 season opener of Saturday Night Live, he accused the show’s staff of bullying him backstage. The next afternoon, he shockingly tweeted he wanted to get rid of the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery (which came just months after he called slavery “a choice”). That same night on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, wife Kim detailed his ridiculous behavior during three fights — including a meltdown he had over the color of a Band-aid.
It got worse from there. On Oct. 1, the rapper — who was hospitalized nearly two years ago after suffer- ing a mental breakdown — told TMZ that he’s stopped taking medication for his bipolar disorder and had canceled the weekend release of his new album, Yahndi, because he felt the need “to go to what is known as Africa...and just grab the soil.” Even for Kanye, 41, it was alarming. “His behavior has spiraled out of control,” says a source. No one knows what to do — even Kim. “The meltdowns and the continued spiraling have reached a limit,” says an insider. “Kim’s been in tears, sobbing about how she’s done trying to help him because he refuses to help himself.”
AT AN IMPASSE
Kanye won’t listen to her — or anyone. “He says he doesn’t feel creative when he takes his meds, that he has zero ideas and can’t work on music, that the medicine is clouding his brain,” laments a family source. “Kim wants him to stay on the right path and keep taking them, but it’s a hard fight and she’s not going to win.” Publicly, Kim, 37, is standing by him. “But privately, she’s beyond concerned for him, her family, her brands,” adds the family source. “There’s no stopping him and definitely no way to reason with him.”
Even when Kanye is on his meds, he’s impossible to deal with. Kim revealed on KUWTK on Sept. 30 that the rapper tries to control how she curates her Instagram page (“I see the vision,” he told her,
demanding she post six nude pics in a row) and threw a tantrum when she chose to give their son, Saint, 2, a bath rather than “hang out” with him. Whenever she tries to talk sense into him, adds the source, “It falls on deaf ears.”
Their arguments are worse than ever now. “They got into a fight after SNL, where Kanye was a complete nightmare to deal with, and Kim begged him to rethink his decisions,” says the source. “But Kanye just tells her she doesn’t understand what it’s like to be him and how she should be supportive.” She wants what’s best for him and their family, adds the source, “But there’s only so much she can take.”
