Bethenny Frankel is rushed to the hospital — the latest of many tragic moments in 2018
One minute, Bethenny Frankel was enjoying a meal. The next, she was fighting for her life. Less than two weeks before Christmas, the Real Housewives of New York star suffered a near-fatal allergic reaction to seafood that landed her in the intensive care unit of Newton-wellesley Hospital outside of Boston for two days (see sidebar).
Upon release and while recovering at home after the truly terrifying ordeal, Bethenny began counting her blessings. “This is the best hospital I’ve ever been to,” she wrote. “I’m so grateful.”
The 48-year- old reality star has been trying to maintain a positive outlook on life, but it hasn’t been easy. The mid- december hospitalization was just the latest in a long string of trag-
ic events that Bethenny’s endured this year — and at this point, she’s desperate for relief. “Hands down, Bethenny has had the worst year of her life,” says an insider. “She looked back and was amazed by everything she’s gone through. She’s hoping and praying 2019 is drama-free.”
AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT...
Before her own brush with death, Bethenny was hit hard by the fatal drug overdose of her on/off boyfriend Dennis Shields and the passing of her beloved dog, Cookie. But that was just the beginning. Her divorce drama also continued, after ex-husband Jason Hoppy reopened their custody battle over 8-year- old daughter Bryn.
And after falling out with most of her fellow Housewives including BFF Carole Radziwill, she could no longer rely on the support system she used to have. “Just when Bethenny believed things were really getting bet- ter, something else would happen,” says the insider. “She really thought that she was cursed.”
According to the insider, Bethenny is so convinced that someone has put a hex on her, she sought out help from professionals. “She’s gone to psychics and spiritual advisors, she’s done sage cleanses and bought crystals,” the insider reveals.
But while she has found comfort in healers and candles, not to mention boyfriend Paul Bernon Bethenny is feeling more wary than ever as she prepares for 2019. Says the insider, “She’s trying to move forward, but she’s always waiting for the other shoe to drop.”
