Ellen Isn't Alone in Becoming a First-time Parent After 60!

STEVE MARTIN

The comedy star, now 73, married copy editor Anne Stringfield, 46, in 2007. Five years later — when the Saturday Night Live alum was 67 — they welcomed a daughter. “I think if I’d had a child earlier, I would have been a lousy father because I would have misplaced my attention on my career,” Steve has said. He loves being an older dad: “She’s giving me way more than I’m giving her.”

JEFF GOLDBLUM

Though he’s old enough to be a dinosaur himself, the Jurassic Park franchise star, 66, didn’t experience fatherhood until he was 62. But he has no regrets about waiting. “I feel right on schedule and I love our two boys,” Jeff’s said of Charlie, 3, and River, 20 months, his boys with third wife and retired gymnast Emilie Livingston, 36. “Everything seemed to happen perfectly. I appreciate it wildly.”

ELTON JOHN

In 2010 at the age of 62, the legendary singer, now 71, became a first-time dad when a surrogate gave birth to Zachary, Elton’s first child with husband David Furnish, 56. Son Elijah arrived in 2013. “Our boys came into our life at a late time,” Elton has said. “I’ve never experienced anything like it, being a father and being a parent. There’s no contest. I’d rather be with my children than playing shows.”
