BAD TO WORSE

What started out as a banner year for Lady Gaga has resulted in one disappointment after another

-

A series of ill-fated romances and health struggles have Lady Gaga wishing 2019 was over.

It was a true fall from grace. One minute, Lady Gaga was energetically dancing with a fan during her Enigma residency in Las Vegas on Oct. 17. The next, the two of them were toppling off the edge of the stage, with audience members fearing Gaga, 33, might be seriously injured. While she was able to get back on her feet and keep performing, an insider says the “Shallow” singer “has been in a lot of pain.”

In more ways than one. A day after her tumble, she confirmed her split from audio engineer Dan Horton — her third romantic heartbreak in just eight months. In fact, 2019’s been full of personal setbacks for Gaga, and Life & Style’s learned the star is now privately dubbing it the worst year of her life. “After winning a bunch of awards for A Star Is Born, she had high expectations for the year,” admits the insider, “but instead, she’s experienced one disappointment after another. It’s been an extremely difficult period for Gaga.”

LONELINESS AND STRESS

Perhaps her biggest letdown in 2019? A fizzled relationship with Bradley Cooper, 44. Their offthe-charts chemistry in A Star Is Born was said to be a reason behind Bradley’s June split from model Irina Shayk, as well as Gaga’s broken engagement with talent agent Christian Carino in February. But while sources say Gaga fully expected to take things to the next level with her director and co-star after he left Irina, 33, Bradley pulled away from her instead. “He couldn’t make up his mind about what he wanted,” the insider explains. “Everyone’s talking about how he basically strung Gaga along. The emotional roller coaster caused a lot of tears.”

And it was the last thing Gaga — who’s admitted to suffering from anxiety as well as fibromyalgia, a painful condition often exacerbated by stress — needed. “Most people think she has it all, but the reality is she hurts like everyone else, physically and emotionally,” notes the insider. “When she’s super stressed, Gaga would love nothing more than to just scream her head off.”

Things are worse when the “Poker Face” crooner is on the road. “Gaga deals with bouts of loneliness, especially when traveling,” shares the insider. “She often worries she’ll never find love again and will lie in bed thinking to herself, What am I doing with my life?”

What she’s trying to do now is start fresh. “Looking after herself is Gaga’s current number-one priority,” says the insider, adding that she’s regularly practicing yoga and meditation to relax. “After her stint in Vegas wraps, she’s also planning on finally taking a break!”

“If anyone can act, it’s Lady Gaga,” says an insider. “She’s great at putting on a brave front, even when she’s struggling.”
