HER MOM’S MOVED IN

-

As California slowly begins to reopen amid the coronavirus crisis, the Sussexes have started to see friends and loved ones — including Meghan’s mom, Doria. “Meghan is incredibly selective about whom she has around Archie, but she totally trusts her mom,” says a source. “Doria has a small house in LA but recently moved in with Meghan and Harry to help out with Archie. She’s fantastic with her grandson, who totally adores her.” It’s not the first time she’s lent a hand: Doria also cared for a newborn Archie when Harry and Meghan were living at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, England, last year!

and Duchess of Sussex. After a rough year marked by harsh criticism from the British media and a privacy lawsuit; a publicly acknowledged feud with Harry’s brother, Prince William, 38; their shocking departure from royal duties followed by a spring move to Meghan’s native LA; and, of course, the coronavirus lockdown, a sibling for Archie

is a joyful respite from all the drama. “Apparently Meghan is already three months along,” says the source, who’s heard the American former actress and Harry officially told Queen Elizabeth II, 94, on Archie’s birthday, May 6. “She thought it was the best surprise ever.”

There are more surprises to come, including the baby’s gender. “Harry is praying they’ll have a girl this time around, so they’ll have one of each,” says the source. Though the prince revealed last summer that he and Meghan want “two [ kids], maximum,” due in part to climate change ramifications, the source insists that number is up for discussion. “Originally, they said they wanted no more than two kids, but if they have another boy, they may try again,” explains the source. “That’s not to say they’d be disappointed if they have two boys. Either way, Archie will make a fantastic big brother.”

Then there’s the name game. “Harry and Meghan are already discussing baby names,” says the source. “If it’s a girl, they like the idea of calling her Diana or Doria — after their mothers — as a first name or possibly a middle name. They’re still deciding.” And if it’s another boy, says the source, expect a moniker that, like Archie, doesn’t have royal roots: “They’re thinking Noah or Nico!”

No matter his or her name, Archie and his sibling will, of course, inherit Harry’s portion of his late mother Princess Diana’s jewelry someday. But they’ll also get the contents of Meghan’s personal jewelry box. Less than a year before she met Harry, while she was still starring on Suits, Meghan opened up in an interview about a keepsake she already earmarked for her future daughter. “I’ve always coveted the Cartier French Tank watch. When I found out Suits had been picked up for our third season — which, at the time, felt like such a milestone — I totally splurged and bought the two-tone version,” she explained. “I had it engraved on the back, ‘ To M. M. From M.M.’ and I plan to give it to my daughter one day. That’s what makes

pieces special, the connection you have to them.”

LIFE IN LA

All of the excitement comes as Meghan and Harry continue to hunker down at their temporary home, an eight-bedroom, 12-bathroom $18 million Beverly Hills mansion they’re borrowing from pal Tyler Perry. In recent months, the Sussexes have quietly been working on their philan

In June, Meghan also taped a powerful speech for her old LA high school in which she addressed her support for the Black Lives Matter movement, something that would have been considered too political if she was still in Britain. But lately, says the source, “she’s been trying to rest more.”

That’s why Meghan is thrilled to have her mom, Doria Ragland, nearby. In fact, says the source, the 63- year- old social worker and yoga instructor recently moved in (see box). “Meghan still enjoys whipping up her favorite dishes in the kitchen, but Doria takes over if Meghan’s feeling too tired,” says the source. “Doria’s very hands- on like that. She has such a nurturing, warm person

Harry loves caring for Meghan, too. “He can’t wait to become a dad again. He’s a total natural with Archie and cherishes every moment he spends with him,” says the source. “Harry doesn’t expect Meghan to do all the work; he helps out with Archie just as much as she does. And that’s exactly what he plans to do when their second child arrives, too.”
