HOW SJP'S RAISING STRONG DAUGHTERS
And just like that...they’re teenagers! Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick’s rarely seen twin girls, Tabitha and Marion, 13, enchanted everyone on the red carpet when they arrived to support their mom at her Hocus Pocus 2 premiere on Sept. 27 in NYC looking all grown up.
But while they happily played the part of proud offspring that night, SJP is even prouder of the relationship the trio maintains. “Sarah
Sarah Jessica Parker’s twin girls are growing into independent teens!
Jessica loves being a mom to two daughters. Her goal has always been to raise strong, independent young women,” spills a source. “She feels like she and Matthew were successful with their son, James, who’s 19 and out living his life, but girls can sometimes be a little trickier. However, she has a very tight bond with Tabitha and Marion.”
LESSONS LEARNED
Both strong-willed and civic-minded, according to the source, the twins have established very distinct personalities, which their parents treasure. “While Tabitha and Marion are very different from each other, they both speak their minds,” says the source. “They know right from wrong, and they don’t have a problem calling out injustices. It amazes their mother.”
Sarah Jessica, 57, and husband Matthew, 60, raise their kids in Manhattan’s West Village out of the glare of flashbulbs — and they’ve always endeavored to give them as normal a childhood as possible. “SJP made sure to instill values in them from an early age,” the source says. “Tabitha and Marion have always had chores and worked for certain pricier things they’ve wanted, and they are very aware of how fortunate they are.”
Though both their parents began professional acting careers when they were in their teens — SJP starred in the 1979 Broadway pro
duction of Annie at 13 while Matthew appeared in off-broadway’s Torch Song Trilogy at 18 — Tabitha and Marion are in no hurry to grow up. And that’s A-OK with Mom and Dad. “Like most teenagers, the twins have various career goals and dream jobs, but their interests vary from becoming a writer to teaching, working with animals and learning fashion design,” shares the source. “Their interests change every six months!”
But as for the family business? “So far acting isn’t on the list, probably because they’ve visited Sarah Jessica and Matthew on sets their entire lives,” says the source, “and the twins find the waiting around super boring!”
