Celebrate America with these films
Film is a versatile medium that has the power to convey messages unlike any art form with which I am familiar. They can make us happy or sad, excited or scared, angry or introspective. The special few have the power to instill an indescribable sense of pride, inspiration and admiration for a subject.
For many, the Fourth of July holiday means baseball, barbecue, beer and fireworks that celebrate the freedoms earned more than 200 years ago upon this country’s declaration of independence, but this year will be different, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many community events such as fireworks shows, have been canceled.
Many have turned to Netflix and other streaming services as a way to be entertained. Movie binging has become a pastime for some. Even so, watching all of these films, even on a weekend away from work, would be a challenge, but no matter which film (or two) you choose to pop in, you’re bound to feel a distinctly American swell of pride in your nation and maybe even something more.
