because of all the excellent reviews it received. I doubted there was a chance.

But as adults, my late wife Margie and I spent time there on at least three visits.

On one trip, we had a room with a huge window in the Hilton Hotel, about three blocks from the impressive Eiffel Tower. I spent an evening just looking at the tourist landmark, which offered a variety of colored lighting for nighttime viewers.

In 2018, Paris had about 2,175,601 residents.

I’m sure the worldwide pandemic has lowered the number of tourists, but many people still are lured to the extraordinary “City of Lights.”

One of the stellar attractions was the Cathedral of

Notre Dame de Paris, but it was enormously damaged by fire on April 15, 2019.

The Metro loop is excellent. One time we stood on the wrong side, but we simply went around the circle in minutes to our next destination.

More interesting places to visit include the Gothic royal chapel of Sainte-Chapell, the Arc de Triomphe on the Champs-Elysees and the Basilica of Sacre-Coeur on the hill of Montmartre. The Louvre is one of the most popular art museums in the world, loaded with many of the historic pieces of art.

If you don’t make it in April there, will be 11 other months you could go.
