LangeTwins named Business of the Year
LangeTwins Winery & Vineyards has been named the recipient of the Business of the Year Award by the Lodi District Chamber of Commerce and will be honored during the Chamber’s annual dinner on Thursday, Jan. 26, 5:30 to 9 p.m., at Wine & Roses.
For five generations, the Lange family has been a leader in the Lodi agricultural community. In 1974, twins Randall and Bradford Lange took the first step toward expanding the family business, co-founding a vineyard management organization called LangeTwins. Over the years, the pair grew the business from 120 acres to more than 8,000, providing 60,000 tons of quality winegrapes annually to leading winemakers like Robert Mondavi. In 2005, the brothers took the next step for the business, breaking ground on LangeTwins Family Winery.
The Langes also lead the charge in sustainable farming practices for the area and the state; guided by the belief that “to be generational, we must be sustainable.”
The family lives this commitment every day by following the Lodi Rules for Sustainability and taking part in habitat restoration projects, which include the establishment of California’s first-ever programmatic safe harbor agreement and a 20-acre riparian habitat restoration project in partnership with Audubon of California and Center for Land Based Learning.
For their efforts, the Langes were the recipient of the 2014 International Award of Excellence in Sustainable Winegrowing Competition by the Botanical Research Institute of Texas, and 2006 California Leopold Award by Sand County Foundation for Environmental Conservation and Dedication. Today, the twins showcase their passion for creating exceptional, sustainable wine, with their collection of brands including LangeTwins Reserve, LangeTwins Estate, Caricature, and Sand Point.
