The Lodi High girls soccer team, fresh off a last-second Tri-City Athletic League victory over defending champion Tracy, kept rolling through Wednesday’s windstorm to defeat Tracy 5-0.

Emily Souza finished with two late goals and assisted on two more, including a Rachel Sutter strike against the strong gusts at the Grape Bowl in the 10th minute.

“We just had a really good game, and the weather played into it,” Lodi coach Tim Stutz said. “We chose to go into the wind in the first half. Just miserable conditions. I’ve coached a lot of soccer games, and this is probably in the top five for worst conditions.”

Alexandria Khoury scored in the 35th minute to give the Flames a 2-0 halftime lead, and Alexis Abarca found the net off a rebound early in the second half. Stutz credited Souza with much of Wednesday’s success.

“She really helped us control the ball with the wind in our face,” he said. “She had an outstanding night.”

On defense, Shelby Hand finished with nine saves, including three in the first half in one-on-ones. The defense in front of her of Courtney Heisler and Alyssa Santana helped preserve the shutout.

India Green and Sophia Casciaro scored a goal each for Tokay in Wednesday’s TCAL road game.

Tiger goalie Katie Price had four saves. Frosh-soph
